The 3.6 engine is much better than average and the 2.0T is better than average. The 2.0T had far more climate control, brakes, and body integrity issues. I'm not sure I understand that.

A well designed turbo engines will be WAY MORE reliable than a bad engeneered NA. In addition to added complexity is added stress as well, a lot of additional heat in the cooling system and engine compartment and at 14.7 PSI you double the peak pressure inside the engine.
6664 posts · Joined 2008. #2 · Feb 24, 2021. The 2.5 engine has plenty of power, certainly for daily driving. Max 150 or 170HP, depending on what year. We had a Mk3 Jetta with the 2.0 engine, and while it seemed peppy in 1997, it sure wasn't a decade and a half later. The 2.5 is far more powerful.
Trim levels for both 3.2 and 2.0T were the same - Premium, Premium Plus & Prestige. Premium was bare bones, Premium Plus had significant extras, Prestige had lots of goodies. With Prestige early on you could get S-Line package (exterior & interior enhancements).
The VW engine is mounted transversely and the Audi engine is mounted longitudinally. The A5 has the awesome ZF 8 speed transmission whereas the GLI probably has either the VW DSG or 8 speed by Aisen.
