20 Oct 2013. #19. I'm running stage 2 at the minute and find the power great. Yes i agree 1st and 2nd are a handful at full throttle but from 3rd on it puts it down so well. overtaking is not a problem even from 50 in 6th. would recommend stage 2 and I am going for 2+ in my Cupra.

Air intake and down pipe (decat or sports cat) are the requirements for Stage 2. Cat back isn't a requirement, nor is a larger core cooler. At Stage 2+ (where the fun really starts!!) you'll need air intake, down pipe, high pressure fuel pump. Intercooler is recommended, but not required.
It’ll handle slightly better but as above, you’re not going to see the benefit much on the road. If you’re looking at a nearly new R vs a 2-3 year old RS, you’re going to lose a lot less on the RS. You can pick one up for around £32k without much spec, for a decent spec you’re looking at 35k or so.

Can't speak from experience with an R (yet) but 99% of the time if the tune throws a CEL, you can just buy "mini cats". They're these small (2in or so) mini like 400-600 cell catalytic converters that go between the O2 sensor and the pipe.
APR Stage 2 Cons: Definitely slower than the IE tune. IE Stage 2 Pros: Noticeably faster than APR. IE Stage 2 Cons: Oil temp is way higher (usually between 210-230 F) Power delivery is jerky at times. Can't change launch control without a reflash. Overrun/Crackle file is lackluster and isn't nearly as aggressive as APR.
